My thoughts on the Fujifilm X100 and more Nonsense Photos....

I love my Fuji X100! There's just something about it....

Previously I had ~~mistakenly~~ believed that the camera doesn't really matter. In fact, I was quite proud about what a compact camera could achieve given the right light, composition, etc. The fact that everyone had a DSLR and were pretending to be photographers turned me off even more and I resolved that taking good photos was more than just the camera. I even started an album on FB titled "It's not the camera.... Non-DSLR shots".

My photography adventure really started with the FujiFilm F100fd. Prior to this I had a few Canon Ixus's. The Fuji F100 was a revelation compared with the Canon's and I thought that the IQ was pretty decent.

Horizons are a bit tilted but not too bad.... I thought the F100 was all anyone needed to take some nice photos....

Then I bought what was the latest and greatest compact camera at the time, the Canon S95.

I was so impressed by the S95 and it's f2.0 lens that I posted a comparison on this blog:

I thought the f2.0 lens was a revelation and the high ISO noise compared with my old F100 was astounding.

The manual control ring on the front was awesome as was the ability to control most of the camera functions. Once again, I thought that the S95 was all anyone ever needed.

When FujiFilm released the X100, I thought...... WOW! What a beautiful camera! I was completely fascinated with it. I bought one on impulse as I was going on a family vacation. When I downloaded the first images onto my computer....... I was completely blown away.

Does the camera matter? Of course it does! The IQ was amazing. Sharp, detailed images with fantastic low noise performance even up to ISO3200. The difference between the compact sized sensor in the S95 and the X100's APS-C sensor was like night and day.

The manual controls took some getting used to and before the many, many firmware updates (which shows that Fuji actually cares about us X100 users) it could get a bit frustrating with some often used functions buried in the menus. The AF and MF were nothing to shout about but after getting used to its quirks, they became non-issues.

Now with firmware 1.21. It's any absolutely fantastic camera!

After shooting with the X100 for some time now, I absolutely love it!

I'm now of the belief that the X100 is all anyone needs.......... and then Fuji releases the X-Pro1. :-)

WTS BMW E34 1JZ-GTE Twin Turbo

The time has come for me to let go of my precious E34 1JZ-GTE. I could put up a regular WTS add but I thought my ride deserved better than that so here it is, the details of my WTS.

Firstly, the question that everyone has on their minds when they first view a WTS.

Why are you selling?
To be honest, I had no intention of letting go of my E34 1JZ which I bought in 2007 and converted in late-2009. My E34 1JZ is a daily driver and I was at Albert @ WP Auto getting some maintenance done when something else was also WTS without me having any intention to WTB. :-)

But..... my dream Bimmer was on sale and I managed to get a pretty good deal so.....

From white to black....

But that's another thread for another day....

Now I am currently the owner of two Bimmers and sadly, one has to go....
